The Davidson Lands Conservancy extends a heartfelt thank you to REI, Inc. for their generous support of the DLC in the past year. REI is truly a partner in our efforts to protect natural spaces in the Davidson area.
At the 2010 ‘Run for Green/Green Day’ festival REI presented the Davidson Lands Conservancy with a check for $14,000 to use for the construction of an access trail and kayak/canoe launch on Lake Davidson. With the help of REI and many volunteers, this project was completed in November 2010 and is now a Town of Davidson park.
Towards the end of 2010, REI announced a facebook ‘deals’ program with a goal of donating $100,000 to land conservation organizations across the country. REI would make a donation for each person that ‘checked in’ to a REI store using a mobile facebook app. The Davidson Lands Conservancy was chosen as the recipient of any donations resulting from check-ins at REI’s two Charlotte area stores.
Earlier this year REI donated $993 to the Davidson Lands Conservancy from the facebook deals program. The DLC has dedicated this contribution to be used by the ‘World of Wonder!’ (WOW!) program that is jointly sponsored by the Davidson Lands Conservancy and the Woodlands Discovery program.
