In spite of overcast skies and the threat of heavy rains (which fortunately never materialized), the inaugural Paddlefest on Lake Davidson was a great success. Over 100 people came for nature walks, a chance to win prizes at the REI tent, and the opportunity to take a canoe ride courtesy of Davidson Outdoors.
Paddlefest recognized the opening of the first public access and canoe/kayak launch on Lake Davidson. Constructed by the Davidson Lands Conservancy with a grant from REI, this access and nature preserve is quickly becoming a popular spot for nature lovers in the Davidson North Carolina area.
The Davidson Lands Conservancy helps to protect vital natural spaces in and around Davidson North Carolina, and also promotes family enjoyment of nature themed activities through the World of Wonder (WOW!) program, a collaboration with Woodlands Discovery.
